I’ll be at the Macon Film Festival on Saturday doing a workshop called “From Story to Screenplay.” Macon is a great festival, and with the growth in the Atlanta film industry I think it’s only going to get bigger and better. My workshop is just what it sounds like: I’ll be talking about how to take a story and turn it into a great script. I’ve found that there are a lot of stories out there. One is what became Get Low. Another is what became The King’s Speech. Both stories had been around since the 1930’s, but they had to be turned into great scripts. That’s the art of screenwriting, and that’s what I’ll be talking about. There are plenty of other workshops and events, mine is Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to noon.
One of those events is a Get Low screening Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. with a Q & A after. I love any opportunity to celebrate this amazing movie and to prolong this incredible ride. Can’t wait!
