I don’t know why I find abandoned modern cities so interesting, but there is no question that I do. A few years ago I saw a old documentary about Pripyat, Ukraine, which had been abandoned after the Chernobyl disaster, and it was riveting to see what remained. Then I came across this article on HowStuffWorks.com, and I realized that there are more abandoned modern cities than I had realized. Perhaps what enthralls me is that these cities bring an awareness of the mortality of everything, which they certainly do. Or maybe it is just morbid fascination at seeing the rare site of bumper cars, train stations and apartments in decay. Whatever the reason, I find abandoned modern cities fascinating, and I invite you to check out that article on HowStuffWorks.com , this great website full of pictures of abandoned modern cities, and this Wikipedia index to ghost towns throughout the world. I guarantee that you will be surprised at how many of them there are.
